As a runner and athlete, my results-based view of fitness kept me from exploring the benefits of yoga. It wasn’t until I moved to Danville in 2014 to begin my first job out of college that I found I needed an outlet to calm my mind and de-stress from the work week. I had complete control of writing this new chapter of my life, but there was a constant unsettling feeling of moving to a new place where I didn’t know a single soul. My first yoga class was a hot flow class in Danville in August 2014, and I was immediately hooked. The welcoming instructors, mental clarity and physical challenge in the hot room provided a beautiful combination that I had never experienced before. As I continued to practice, I learned more about myself and my body, and found that the mental stillness and contentment the practice gave me was the missing piece to my puzzle. Yoga has now become a way of life; it has changed the way I view myself and others, react to life situations, and express love and gratitude to those around me. It has helped me find strength and embrace vulnerability after losing my brother in 2017. Yoga has changed my life and I am committed to sharing this practice with our community as I continue to grow on my personal journey. I completed my 200 hour teacher training in 2016. I have also completed hands-on assist training, and have attended workshops led by Taylor Harkness and Bryan Kest. Join me on your mat as we grow through this yoga journey together!
