I took my first step in March of 2015. I was sidelined due to illness from triathlon. It was then my one and only outlet from the challenges of life with a special needs child. After pushing my body to the brink over and over with the mentality that if I could just cross that finish line one more time I would be able to handle anything life threw at me….my body gave out…
I had a friend that just wouldn’t give up. She asked me over and over to come to yoga “I think you would love it”. Finally, I relented just so she would let it rest! Here I am today. My body is healed, my mind is quiet and there is peace on my mat. Life is not different, in fact, there are even more demands. The difference is how yoga has taught me to handle them. I have learned from my mat how to care for myself, where to find grace in the difficult times, to be compassionate to myself and others, my mat catches and absorbs without judgment the blood, sweat, and tears.
I graduated in June of 2016 from my 200-hour teacher training. I initially signed up for teacher training to deepen my practice and simply learn more about yoga. I found so much more, my tribe, my heart, my light. My intention as a teacher is for each student to leave class feeling as if their very soul has been nourished and touched ever so gently.
The light within me sees that light within you… Your mat is calling you.
