You deserve good things. I deserve good things. We deserve good things.

As you read those words, maybe they settled into your bones with ease. Or maybe your brain came up with a list of reasons that convince you that you are exempt from receiving the good the world has to offer. Maybe your list sounds like:

“….but if you knew about this thing about me you wouldn’t say that….”

“…maybe a few years ago, but not right now…”

“…someone else deserves good things more than me…”

This list can torment us for years. Trust me, I’ve been there and still am some days. Circling the narratives that are trapped in my brain about whether or not I’m good person, whether or not I deserve goodness and love and light, and whether or not I am worthy of those things.

The truth is – you are. I am. We are.

Maybe try out repeating this mantra throughout your week: “You deserve good things. I deserve good things. We deserve good things.” And the next time something good happens, receive it. Maybe it comes in the form of a compliment or the person in front of you buys your coffee or you receive positive feedback from a coworker.

Whatever form it takes, try to receive it. You deserve it.
