All of our classes are open to all levels, even absolute beginners. We encourage you to let your teacher know if it is your first class. Please explore the Frequently Asked Questions below to get started.
How do I sign up for a class?
Please sign up for class online. The best way to sign up before class is by using the MindBody app. Download the free MindBody app, click Explore, then search for Firely in Danville, VA. Tap the heart button on our studio profile to add us to your favorites, then browse our schedule and click Book to sign up.
What is the best yoga class for beginners?
All of our weekly yoga classes are “all levels” meaning the teacher will offer variations and modifications for beginners and advanced options for experienced yogis. We encourage you to let the teacher know if you are brand new to yoga. Beginners are always welcome to try any of our classes.
Does the teacher demonstrate the poses?
Most of our classes are taught “off the mat” – meaning the teacher leads you with verbal cues, but does not demonstrate this poses. The benefits of this method are that it allows the teacher to pay close attention to the students and to adjust cues based on what she/he sees; and that it enables you as the student to tune into your own body and not rely on visual cues. That being said, some classes are taught “on the mat” – meaning the teacher provides verbal cues and also provides a visual demonstration. All of our on-demand classes offer a demo. If you are new to yoga, you might try taking some of our on-demand classes first to get comfortable with the cues before joining a live class that is taught with a demo.
What should I bring?
Please bring a yoga mat and bottled water. You may also want to bring a handtowel for a Flow class. If you do not have these items or forget them, we do offer rental mats, rental towels, and bottled water for sale.
Where are you located?
We are currently teaching daily online yoga classes as well as outdoor yoga classes. Our studio at 310 Main Street in the Danville’s River District is currently temporarily closed out of an abundance of caution due to COVID-19.
I’m out of shape. Can I try yoga?
Yes! Many of our classes are suitable for people who are recovering from injury or who are not accustomed to regular exercise. We offer a variety of slow-paced classes including Yin Yoga, Gentle Yoga, and Restorative Yoga. Props are used to make longer held postures comfortable for each student. Of course, we always recommend discussing with your medical provider before beginning a new exercise routine.
How much does it cost?
We offer an awesome new student special: $36 for 30 days of unlimited classes! Regularly, a single class is $12 for adults or $10 for students or active military. We also offer a variety of class packages (10 for $100) and a monthly membership ($75 for unlimited access).
Are your classes heated?
No, our classes are not heated like “hot yoga.” We maintain the studio at normal room temperature (68-71 degrees). Yoga is a form of exercise, and you may still break a sweat during class.
What is Vinyasa Flow Yoga?
Our primary style of classes is a dynamic vinyasa flow, where the postures are linked together with movement and breath. All classes are multi-level with options for modifications.
What is Buti Yoga?
Buti yoga is a fusion of vinyasa flow yoga, primal movement, and intense cardio sprints. Our classes use music to guide the movement of the body.
What is Yin Yoga?
Yin yoga uses a series of long-held poses to improve joint mobility. We utilize yoga props such as bolsters, zafus, blocks, and blankets to support the body in each pose. The goal is to relax the muscles and the mind in order to reduce tension and improve flexibility.
What is Prenatal Yoga?
Prenatal yoga teaches you ways to modify yoga poses to receive benefits during or after pregnancy. Prenatal yoga class is great on its own and also teaches women ways to adapt their regular yoga practice during any of our other unheated yoga classes.
