Everyone is welcome at Firefly Yoga! Our mission is to share the benefits of yoga with all people in the greater Danville region. Our vision is to create an inclusive community of students and teachers dedicated to exploring the practice of yoga, on and off the mat.
Firefly was established in November 2018 by a group of yoga teachers and students committed to building a welcoming community and empowering others. Our brick-and-mortar studio is located at 310 Main Street, Danville, VA 24541 in the heart of Danville’s River District. We are on the second floor, above Lizzy Lou Boutique.
In March 2020, with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, we began teaching live steam online classes. We plan to continue offering online yoga classes even after we are able to reopen our physical studio.
Beginners are always welcome to try any of our classes. All of our yoga classes are multi-level, meaning the teacher will offer variations and modifications for beginners and advanced options for experienced yoga students. By listening to the teacher’s cues, you can choose to decrease or increase the intensity of a pose based on what your body needs or your comfort level. We encourage you to let the teacher know if you are brand new to yoga.
Our primary style of classes is a dynamic vinyasa flow, where the yoga postures are linked together with movement and breath. Our vinyasa flow classes are multi-level, meaning the teacher offers options for modifications to decrease or increase the intensity of poses. Beginners are always welcome!
Buti yoga is a fusion of vinyasa flow yoga, primal movement, and intense cardio sprints. Buti yoga classes use music to guide the movement of the body.
Yin yoga uses a series of long-held poses to improve joint mobility. We utilize yoga props such as bolsters, zafus, blocks, and blankets to support the body in each pose. The goal is to relax the muscles and the mind in order to reduce tension and improve flexibility.
Prenatal yoga teaches you ways to modify yoga poses to receive benefits during or after pregnancy. Prenatal yoga class is great on its own and also teaches women ways to adapt their regular yoga practice during any of our other unheated yoga classes.
